Explore the designs of ancient Rome, represented by works featured in the special exhibition Roman Art from the Louvre, and discover the unique qualities of form, movement, and translucency that are possible when combining cloth and imagery. Students will learn how to make heat-transfer copies of images onto cloth, experimenting with a wide range of fabrics and using a variety of approaches to transferring images, including layering, altering, opaque and translucent imagery, and combining transfers with other surface design techniques. No previous art experience is required.
