From the Roman Empire to modern times, wine has maintained religious, medicinal, and social significance. Bring your friends and enjoy a relaxing and enlightening evening as you discover ancient clay vessels used for mixing wine and sculptural depictions of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine and revelry, in the special exhibit, Roman Art from the Louvre. Following a brief tour, you will learn how to craft your own terra cotta wine goblet and then sample a variety of wine and cheese pairings, provided by the Museum Cafe. Finally, we’ll decorate and incise our goblets to prepare them for firing. Fee includes tasting, clay, and firing charges; pieces will be kiln-fired and will be ready approximately two weeks following completion of the class.
