DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY FOR ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS (SOLD OUT)

Sunday, June 2, 1 – 5 p.m.
Ability level: Novice/Beginner
$25 members/$30 nonmembers
Maximum enrollment: 12 students
Instructor: Mike Muller

For those who have just made the leap into digital photography and want to learn how to operate their cameras with ease, this class will explore menu functions to make digital images more creative and how to take the best pictures possible. Students will focus on taking photos and how to improve the overall composition of images. Students are expected to bring a digital camera, owner’s manual, and any wires and accessories that came with their camera outfit, as well as a portable, lightweight tripod, if available. An additional offering of this class will occur on Sunday, July 28, 1 – 5 p.m.

BLACK & WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY: DIGITAL & ANALOG SOLUTIONS

Saturday, June 22, 1 – 5 p.m.
Ability level: All levels
$25 members/$30 nonmembers
Maximum enrollment: 12 students
Instructor: Brett Deering

This workshop will introduce students to the principles of black and white photography using a digital camera and will include a discussion of the traditional analog process used in shooting, developing and printing from black and white film. Students will cover lighting techniques and complete an in-class photo session. Class will finish with a discussion on digital photo editing and printing solutions. Students will need to bring a digital camera: point and shoot or DSLR. Students can also bring any film camera and B/W film.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Sundays, June 23 – July 21, 1 – 4 p.m. (5 classes)
Ability level: Intermediate/Advanced
$100 members/ $125 nonmembers
Maximum enrollment: 12 students
Instructor: Narciso Argüelles

This class is for DSLR users who are looking to further their knowledge of camera operations, exposure, exposure controls, lenses, depth of field, shutter speeds, existing lighting and basic lighting techniques, using studio lighting and electronic flash and photo/image editing. Students will need to bring a DSLR camera and tripod, as well as a laptop computer.

PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY               

Saturday, July 27, 1 – 5 p.m.
Ability level: Novice/Beginner
$25 members/$30 nonmembers
Maximum enrollment: 12 students
Instructor: Konrad Eek

This workshop is designed to be an introductory study of portrait photography. Students will gain an overview in posing portrait subjects, lighting, use of portrait studio equipment and techniques. Students will need to bring a DSLR camera and any flash they have. Optional equipment includes a tripod and a laptop computer with photo editing software installed.

CREATIVE PICTURE TAKING

Sunday, August 11, 1 – 5 p.m.
Ability level: Novice/Beginner
$25 members/$30 nonmembers
Maximum enrollment: 12 students
Instructor: Konrad Eek

This workshop focuses on handling different light situations and composition. Subjects covered include artificial light, natural light, flash photography, and how to handle low-light situations. The basics of artistically composing photographs will also be discussed. Students must bring a DSLR or point and shoot camera.
