Please no younger or older siblings; these are special classes for just you and your toddler. Children must meet the minimum age requirements for each class to participate. Cost per class is $7 members/$9 nonmembers per child (materials and a snack provided). Maximum enrollment is 8 adult/child pairs in each class.

MAKING MUSIC (SOLD OUT)

Amanda HarmerJoin us in a fun exploration of rhythm and sound. We’ll begin by passing around noisemakers and trying them out. Then, we’ll create and decorate our own musical instruments using construction paper, crayons, Popsicle sticks, and recycled coffee cans. We’ll sing songs and practice playing our instruments together! An additional offering of this class will occur on Saturday, May 19, from 11–11:45 a.m.

Let’s visit the exhibition Illuminations: Rediscovering the Art of Dale Chihuly to look for glass sculptures inspired by the sea. We’ll start by reading a book about the ocean and sharing a snack. After our gallery walk, we’ll return to the classroom to create funky fish sculptures using paper plates, streamers, wiggly eyes, and markers. An additional offering of this class will occur on Saturday, June 9, from 11–11:45 a.m.

DANCING FINGERS

In this class, little fingers will move through paint to beautiful music. We’ll share a snack, read a fun book about music, and then visit the galleries. Back in the classroom, we’ll load our paper with paint and move our hands to the music to create a bright, expressive work of art! STACKING CYLINDERS

Let’s visit the exhibition FUSION [A New Century of Glass] and look at sculptures by artist Katherine Gray. Back in the classroom, we will create fun, stackable sculptures using cups, Modge Podge, and mat board. An additional offering of this class will occur on Saturday, July 14, from 11–11:45 a.m.

SUMMER SUN

Learn about bright colors as we read a book about the sun and visit the galleries in search of warm colors used in art. Using cardboard and foam stickers, we will then work together to create a sun, finishing our piece by painting it with bright yellows and oranges! PRIMARY COLORS

Our tiny artists will enjoy a snack as we read a book about primary colors. Then, we’ll search for red, blue, and yellow items hidden in the galleries. Back in the classroom, we’ll learn how to mix the colors to create a fun painting. An additional offering of this class will occur on Saturday, August 11, from 11–11:45 a.m.

THE BALL ON THE PAPER ROLLS ROUND AND ROUND

Let’s share a snack and a fun story about things that are round. Then, we’ll visit the galleries looking for things that are round. Back in the classroom, we’ll dip balls into a small amount of paint and roll them onto butcher paper laid on the floor. Details can be added with paintbrushes and hands if desired. This class will be MESSY!

CHIHULY’S COLORS

Join us for an exciting color discovery! Following a visit to the galleries to view colorful forms created by artist Dale Chihuly, we’ll return to the classroom to scribble with brightly colored paints.
