The 250-seat Noble Theater

The Noble Theater was conceived and built to meet three broad objectives.

  • Preservation – Given many downtown Oklahoma City buildings were demolished in urban renewal projects or damaged by the Murrah Federal Building bombing, the Museum wished to preserve the Centre Theater, restoring what was possible, retrofitting the remainder, and incorporating the 1947 landmark in the new Museum construction.
  • Program Venue – To advance the Museum’s mission, the theater was designed to serve as the venue for the Museum’s Film Program; lectures and other educational presentations; school tour orientation activities; and special events.
  • Marketing – In addition to projected income, earned through ticket sales and admission fees, the Museum wished to increase awareness of the Museum, help anchor a developing downtown Oklahoma City Arts District, and contribute to the cultural life of Oklahoma City, the state, and beyond.

The Noble Theater has hosted thousands of programs and events since opening in April of 2002. Meeting its objectives brilliantly, The Theater is respected for its outstanding physical and program qualities and has become a revered fixture of Oklahoma.
