Adapted from the semi-autobiographical comic novella by acclaimed American author John Frante, My Dog Stupid follows Henri, a middle-aged writer who failed to capitalize on the promise of his dazzling early success. Fearing his best creative years are behind him, and  feeling increasingly misunderstood by his wife Cécile—a frustrated former academic—and his four, hapless grown children, Henri dreams of running away to Rome to start over again.

Yet when he discovers a huge, bad-mannered dog in his garden, he decides to adopt him, starting an unexpected friendship that inevitably upsets Henri’s family and neighbors. As his wife and children flee the family home one by one, Henri is left alone to reckon with is creative and marital crises. Starring iconic real-life couple Yvan Attal and Charlotte Gainsbourg (My Wife is an Actress, Happily Ever After) My Dog Stupid is bittersweet and moving comedy about love standing the test of time.
