Did you know, many museums and art galleries have tour guides commonly referred to as “docents?” (pronounced dō∙cent)
At OKCMOA, our docents receive monthly training and information over each exhibition as well as the Museum’s permanent collection. Additionally, docents are given early access to special exhibitions, free admission to special events, and discounts in the Museum Café and Museum Store.
The docent program is open for people of all ages who would like to expand their knowledge in the arts, connect with like-minded people, and can attend regular training sessions.
Several of OKCMOA’s current docents are retired university professors and school teachers, and principals who have dedicated most of their lives to learning. Many have volunteered with the Museum for over 10 years!
Our docents add a memorable touch to guided group visits, and are a valuable addition to the Museum. If you are interested in this program, please contact Bryon Chambers, Manager of Tours and Adult Learning, (405) 278-8212, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
