Become a Docent

Volunteer Opportunity: If you like talking to people and want to invest in the Oklahoma City community, consider volunteering at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art as a docent. Docents help OKCMOA deliver outreach programs, facilitate tours for students and adult visitors, and answer questions about the art work on display. OKCMOA is seeking curious and flexible community members to help us engage with our visitors.
Time requirements: 3-5 Hours per week
The OKCMOA docent training program runs on a year basis and classes will begin in August 2023.
Please contact Tori Waldron, Manager of Digital and Gallery Learning, at twaldron@okcmoa.com, for more information about the application process.
What is a Docent?
Many museums and art galleries have tour guides commonly referred to as “docents?” (pronounced dō∙cent)
At OKCMOA, our docents receive regular training and information on each exhibition as well as the Museum’s permanent collection. Additionally, docents are given free admission to special events and discounts in the Museum Store.
The docent program is open to those eighteen years and up, who would like to talk with others about art, and can attend regular training sessions.
