FLORALS AND FLOW: A MORNING YOGA SESSION

Led by Shannon Stephens, owner of This Land Yoga
Add some zen to your Art in Bloom weekend and join us for a gentle, beginner-friendly class in our gallery spaces. Surrounded by floral installations and artwork, this class will weave together simple, mindful movement and steady breath to create a calm, grounded start to your day. Inspired by the seasonal shift of spring, we’ll explore themes of renewal, attention, and quiet growth. Expect a supportive pace, clear guidance, and space to connect inward while immersed in the art around you.
Participants are asked to bring their own yoga mat. A limited number of chairs will be available for seated options and accessibility needs. You are welcome to bring water; however, all water bottles must be left outside the galleries during the session.

BABIES AT THE MUSEUM: BUZZING THROUGH BLOOMS – SOLD OUT

Designed for ages 0-24 months and their caregivers
Babies and their caregivers will take a stroll through the Museum’s Art in Bloom floral arrangements, buzzing from blossom to blossom. As we flutter through the galleries, we’ll enjoy a springtime story and discover the surprising shapes, colors, and scents tucked into each floral creation. Donned in our soft bee antennae and surrounded by flowers, we’ll slow down, look closely, and let the beauty of the blooms spark curiosity in every little explorer.
ART CLASS: FLORALS IN FUSED GLASS – SOLD OUT

Designed for ages 18+
Led by Jackie Nelson, Teaching Artist
Draw inspiration from the floral sculptures displayed throughout the galleries as you create a one-of-a-kind fused glass work of art. In this hands-on class, participants will explore vibrant colors, simple shapes, and expressive textures while learning the fundamentals of glass-fusing techniques. Finished pieces will remain onsite to be kiln-fired to a glossy finish—perfect for displaying in a window, displaying on a mantle, or gifting to someone special.
Registrants will be contacted via email when their creations are ready for pickup. Please note that we cannot guarantee that the piece(s) will survive the firing process. In the event your piece(s) is damaged, students will have the option of remaking their works or can opt to receive a refund.

DROP-IN ART: PAUL REED-INSPIRED FLORAL MONOPRINTS

Celebrate the spring season with Art in Bloom–themed Drop-In Art! Participants will experiment with colorful monoprinting techniques to create lively, floral-inspired prints using acetate sheets, Q-tips, and vibrant printmaking inks. Taking inspiration from the radiant work of Paul Reed—featured in Paul Reed: A Retrospective—this hands-on activity invites artists of all ages to play with color, movement, and floral-filled imagination.

ART CLASS: GUIDED CALLA LILY PAINTINGS

Celebrate the elegance of floral art in this guided painting experience inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s iconic Calla Lily (Lily – Yellow No. 2). With step-by-step instruction, participants will learn how to blend colors, layer paint, and create soft transitions that evoke O’Keeffe’s distinctive style. This class welcomes beginners and experienced painters alike and offers a relaxing and inspiring way to connect with art, flowers, and creative expression.

April’s Playdate & Create program has been moved to Sunday, April 12, to align with Art in Bloom!
For this special program, we’ll explore the Museum’s Art in Bloom floral arrangements. Together, we’ll journey through the galleries to explore this year’s displays, noticing colors, shapes, and the tiny details that bring each arrangement to life. Back in the classroom, we’ll continue our exploration with a hands-on floral hanging activity. Using faux flowers and your guidance, your little artist will design their own floral window hang. Through gallery discovery, storytelling, and sensory play, your child will strengthen fine motor skills and explore how art can bloom in unexpected ways.

ART CLASS: CREPE PAPER ICELANDIC POPPIES

Designed for ages 18+
Led by Jennifer Perkins, local mixed-media artist and owner of Petal Pioneer
Join Oklahoma artist Jennifer Perkins for a hands-on workshop exploring the art of handmade paper florals. In this class, participants will learn how to create a lifelike Icelandic poppy using fine crepe paper, focusing on petal shaping, color variation, and natural movement.
Jennifer will guide students step-by-step through her professional process, demonstrating techniques for constructing delicate petals, sculpting centers, and assembling a realistic bloom inspired by the soft, romantic qualities of real Icelandic poppies. All materials are provided, and no prior experience is required. Participants will leave with a completed crepe paper poppy and a deeper appreciation for paper as a sculptural and expressive medium.
