Extensive programming to accompany exhibition at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art
OKLAHOMA CITY (October 29, 2026) — The Triumph of Nature: Art Nouveau from the Chrysler Museum of Art, OKCMOA’s fall exhibition opens this Saturday, October 31. The Triumph of Nature is organized by the Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, VA and toured by International Arts & Artists, Washington, DC.
Featuring 127 works of art from the Art Nouveau movement including paintings, prints, jewelry, and furniture, The Triumph of Nature brings together Art Nouveau treasures from the rich holdings of the Chrysler Museum of Art, drawing primarily from the gifts of Walter P. and Jean Chrysler, whose homes were once the showrooms for these works.
Works by some of the artists best associated with the Art Nouveau movement, such as Louis Comfort Tiffany, Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha, and Aubrey Beardsley, will be featured in the exhibition.
“Art Nouveau is a dynamic and decadent style characterized by sinuous, organic lines, asymmetry, and high levels of decoration,” said OKCMOA Assistant Curator Kristen Pignuolo. “With so many different mediums represented in this exhibition, visitors will see the movement’s synthesis of different artistic disciplines, with nature acting as the uniting force.”
The exhibition’s five sections will give visitors deeper insight into the Art Nouveau movement. The sections consist of:
- Japonisme
- Siegfried Bing and the Maison de l’Art Nouveau
- École de Nancy
- The Triumph of Nature
- From Nouveau to Deco: The Triumph of Industry
A wide range of programming will accompany this exhibition throughout its run. Pignuolo will lead two in-depth tours exploring major themes and highlights from the exhibition, and gossip tours, with a look at the personalities, passions, rivalries, and social intrigue surrounding the artists and cultural figures who shaped the Art Nouveau movement at the turn of the 20th century, will also make their return to OKCMOA’s galleries.
Several adult classes tied to the exhibition will take place throughout December and January and will include printmaking, clay, mosaics, and more.
Saturdays in December, a series of holiday programming held each Saturday in December from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will feature the theme A Very Nouveau December, with Drop-In Art activities related to the exhibition.
