OKLAHOMA CITY (May 18, 2026) — The Oklahoma City Museum of Art (OKCMOA) announces that tickets for its summer exhibition, The Sense of Beauty: Six Centuries of Painting from Museo de Arte de Ponce, are now available. The Sense of Beauty has been organized by the Museo de Arte de Ponce in collaboration with the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. The exhibition is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Sense of Beauty, organized in celebration of the Museo de Arte de Ponce’s 65th anniversary and traveling while the Puerto Rico museum undergoes renovations, will span a period from the 1500s through the 21st century. The exhibition will feature 60 paintings by European, Puerto Rican, and North American artists, many of which have not been on view outside of Puerto Rico since they were acquired. Alongside works by El Greco, Peter Paul Rubens, Francisco de Goya, Frederic Church, John Singer Sargent, and contemporary Puerto Rican artists Miguel Trelles and María de Mater O’Neill, the exhibition will also feature Frederic Leighton’s iconic Flaming June from 1895.
“Visitors will have an opportunity to see masterworks by artists who are rarely on view in Oklahoma,” said OKCMOA President and CEO Michael Anderson, PhD. “We encourage people to reserve their tickets in advance, knowing this will be a can’t-miss summer experience.”
“We are pleased to collaborate with the Oklahoma City Museum of Art in presenting The Sense of Beauty and sharing highlights from the Museo de Arte de Ponce collection with new audiences,” said Marcos Montero, Executive Director of the Museo de Arte de Ponce. “This exhibition reflects our commitment to expanding access to the collection and fostering meaningful connections through art as the museum advances through a major reconstruction project.”
