Celebrate the harmony of sight and sound with a free piano recital inspired by the life and passions of legendary photographer Ansel Adams, who considered music his “first love.” Presented in conjunction with Discovering Ansel Adams, this special performance by 18-year-old Oklahoma City pianist Samuel Rhoades honors the deep connection between music and visual art that shaped Adams’ creative journey.
A rising talent, Rhoades has performed at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and received top prizes at multiple regional competitions. He will present a captivating program featuring works by J.S. Bach, Ravel, Liszt, Chopin, and more, ranging from baroque elegance to romantic virtuosity.
Program highlights include selections from J.S. Bach’s Partita No. 2 in C minor; Maurice Ravel’s Miroirs; Franz Liszt’s Transcendental Etudes; Frédéric Chopin’s Scherzo No. 3, and Busoni’s piano transcription of the “Chaconne” from Bach’s Partita No. 2.
The recital is free and open to the public, and is the perfect prelude to exploring the Discovering Ansel Adams exhibition. Seating is first-come, first-served. Doors open at 10 am.
