This Museum Book Club meeting is sold out. Due to popular demand, we’ve added another Museum Book Club session dedicated to discussing The Glassmaker! Learn more and register here.
Join the Museum Book Club at OKCMOA and connect more with our special exhibitions through lively conversation.
Led by Museum educator Tori Waldron, each session features a specially selected book that complements the themes of a current exhibition. Enjoy refreshments—including a themed snack and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages—in the Museum Store before diving into a guided discussion that links literature to the art on view in our galleries.
The Glassmaker
The Museum Book Club meeting will feature a guided discussion of The Glassmaker by Tracy Chevalier in the OKCMOA’s galleries on December 11 from 5:30 pm to 7 pm.
“It is 1486, and Venice is a wealthy, opulent center for trade. Orsola Rosso is the eldest daughter in a family of glassblowers on Murano, the island revered for the craft. As a woman, she is not meant to work with glass—but she has the hands for it, the heart, and a vision. When her father dies, she teaches herself to make glass beads in secret, and her work supports the Rosso family’s fortunes.” (source: https://www.amazon.com/Glassmaker-Novel-Tracy-Chevalier-ebook/dp/B0CJBRHGSG)
