Thinking in 3D examines how various artists tackle the elements at play in three-dimensional art. The featured works are arranged into three thematic groups, each highlighting a specific aspect of three-dimensional art: medium, light, and movement. By exploring these characteristics in their work, these artists expand the boundaries of the art form. The installation includes prominent sculptors like Lee Bontecou, Harry Bertoia, and Frank Stella, kinetic artists such as Alexander Calder and Martha Boto, and glass artists Preston Singletary, Mary Shaffer, and Howard Ben Tré.
In-gallery sound activations of Sounding Sculpture by Harry Bertoia are scheduled at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm. On Sundays, sound activations are scheduled at 1 pm and 3 pm.
Tiges Lumineuses [Luminous Stems] by Lillian Florsheim and Intersections lumineuses [Luminous Intersections] by Martha Boto are activated for set, limited periods of time throughout the day. To see videos of the works activated, visit their pages on our Bloomberg Connects guide.
