Studded with ingenious musical and comedic set pieces and a top-shelf cast that includes George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, and Channing Tatum, Hail, Caesar! demonstrates both an obsessive love and a wide-ranging knowledge of all things Hollywood. Adroitly balancing the madcap comic whirlwind of The Big Lebowski and the humanistic introspection of The Man Who Wasn’t There, the Coen Brothers have delivered an off kilter crowd-pleaser with heart and brains to spare.
