Museum Films in April 2024

Click here to view the printable April Film Schedule + Calendar.

This month, Museum Films is excited to showcase cutting edge New York Film Festival highlights from Radu Jude, Lu Zhang and Alice Rohrwacher alongside iconic modern classics by Jean-Pierre Melville, Andrei Tarkovsky and Sergio Leone. Our April schedule also features moving documentary tributes to legendary film composers Ryuichi Sakamoto and Ennio Morricone, poetic voyages through the Italian landscape, a surreal indie comedy starring Tilda Swinton, and the return of OCU’s Wide Open Experimental Film Festival.

As always, OKCMOA Film Society Members (including Fellow, Friend, and Sustainer members) receive $5 tickets to Museum Films screenings. To learn more about joining the Film Society, visit: https://www.okcmoa.com/filmsociety

Visit OKCMOA’s Museum Store x Ganache during regular Museum hours for a variety of beverages to enjoy during film screenings.

Stay tuned for additional films and showtimes!

Thurs., April 4 @ 7 pm | Fri., April 5 @ 8 pm | 2024 International Oscar Submission

Romania’s 2024 Best International Feature entry, this bold, timely, profane and darkly hilarious satire from acclaimed writer-director Radu Jude weaves cutting observations on work, life and truth in the social media age through the tale of an overworked film production assistant.

LE SAMOURAÏ | Jean-Pierre Melville | 1967 | subtitled | 105 minutes | NR

Fri., April 5 @ 5:30 pm | Sat., April 6 @ 2 & 8 pm | Sun., April 7 @ 12:30 pm | New 4K Restoration

Returning to theaters in a gleaming 4K restoration, Jean-Pierre Melville’s profoundly influential 1960s crime drama brings coolly impeccable French style to the film noir-inspired story of a methodical hitman (Alain Delon) trapped between his deadly employers and the law.

THE SHADOWLESS TOWER | Lu Zhang | 2023 | subtitled | 144 minutes | NR

Sat., April 6 @ 5 pm | Sun., April 7 @ 3 pm

An acclaimed highlight of the Berlin and New York Film Festivals, Lu Zhang’s sweeping and beautifully crafted Beijing-set drama follows an aimless middle-aged poet-turned-food critic as he bonds with a quirky female coworker and reconnects with his absent father.

—

RYUICHI SAKAMOTO | OPUS | Neo Sora | 2023 | subtitled | 103 minutes | NR

Thurs., April 11 @ 7:30 pm | One Night Only

As a final gift to the late musician and composer Ryuichi Sakamoto’s legions of fans, filmmaker Neo Sora (Sakamoto’s son) has constructed a gorgeous elegy starring Sakamoto himself in one of his last performances, an intimate and achingly beautiful one-man show recorded in 2022.

LA CHIMERA | Alice Rohrwacher | 2023 | subtitled | 133 minutes | NR

Fri., April 12 @ 5:30 & 8:30 pm | Sat., April 13 @ 2 & 8 pm | Sun., April 14 @ 3:30 pm | Thurs., April 18 @ 7:30 pm

A dream-like romp through Italy’s archaeological and cinematic past, the romantic and richly textured new film from Alice Rohrwacher follows a rowdy group of tombaroli (tomb raiders), led by a lovelorn Englishman (Josh O’Connor), as they hunt for priceless Etruscan treasures in 1980s Tuscany.

NOSTALGHIA | Andrei Tarkovsky | 1983 | subtitled | 126 minutes | NR

Sat., April 13 @ 5 pm | Sun., April 14 @ 12:30 pm | New 4K Restoration

ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA | Sergio Leone | 1984 | In English | 228 minutes | R

Sun., April 21 @ 3 pm | 40th Anniversary Screening
