OKCMOA’s December lineup offers a mix of brilliantly acted award-season highlights, timeless classics, and artful documentaries. Screening as part of our annual Awards Season Preview series, Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon delivers a witty real-time exploration of creativity and collaboration, featuring Ethan Hawke and Andrew Scott, while Mary Bronstein’s electrifying drama If I Had Legs I’d Kick You returns for an encore screening. Nomimated for eight Golden Globe awards, Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value is a poignant and sharply observed drama that explores family ties and the emotional weight of memory. Joining these highlights is Paolo Sorrentino’s elegant new film La Grazia, starring Toni Servillo in his Venice Best Actor-winning role, which offers a baroque meditation on age, power, and freedom at the close of a presidential term. Art lovers can revel in Exhibition on Screen – Caravaggio, a stunning documentary uncovering the life and legend of the revolutionary painter. Returning to theaters in celebration of its 25th anniversary, Edward Yang’s masterpiece Yi Yi is presented in a gorgeous new 4K restoration.
Complementing these contemporary and international gems, our Technicolor Wonderland matinee series brings vibrant mid-century classics to the big screen, including a dazzling new restoration of Singin’ in the Rain, the glamorous Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, holiday favorite White Christmas, and Ozu’s charming Good Morning. And don’t miss the 40th anniversary 4K director’s cut of Terry Gilliam’s Oscar-nominated cult classic Brazil, a dazzling, darkly comic dystopian epic set against a surreal Christmastime backdrop. Plus, OKCMOA Film Society Members are invited to join us for a festive holiday party in the Museum Store followed by a screening of Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers.
