Art Class: Sensational Seascapes

Inspired by seascape paintings in the Museum’s permanent collection, this class starts with a visit to the galleries to observe how artists depicted maritime scenes. Back in the classroom, students will use watercolor paints and sand to create layered seascape paintings featuring rolling waves, sandy shorelines, and colorful sailboats while exploring texture, color, and composition.
