From breathtaking family-friendly adventures (Princess Mononoke and The Legend of Ochi) and mesmerizing music movies (Tall Tales and Becoming Led Zeppelin) to stunning 4K restorations of Luis Buñuel’s Él and rediscovered 80s punk gem Nightshift, Museum Films’ May schedule offers an eclectic mix of highly anticipated new releases and under-the-radar exclusives. This month’s lineup also features a spotlight on contemporary Chinese cinema with compelling new films from Lou Ye (An Unfinished Film) and Jia Zhang-ke (Caught by the Tides); new and classic adaptations of Françoise Sagan’s coming-of-age novel Bonjour Tristesse; and acclaimed festival highlights, including David Cronenberg’s deeply personal new film The Shrouds, French dark comedy Misericordia, and Matías Piñeiro’s elegant cine-essay You Burn Me.
