Bachelor Flat:

Bachelors and Bombshells: Six Films by Frank Tashlin

Presented in 35mm!

Thursday, June 15 | 8 pm

Filmed in CinemaScope on location in Malibu, California, Bachelor Flat is director Frank Tashlin’s remake of his own 1954 feature, Susan Slept Here. Bruce Patterson (Terry-Thomas) is an English anthropology professor who seeks a bit of peace and quiet in his California beach home with his fiancée away. Of course, she hasn’t told him about her juvenile-delinquent daughter, Libby (Tuesday Weld), who arrives unannounced for an extended stay. Pestered by the sexy seventeen-year-old, a series of seriously libidinous women, and his neighbor’s naughty dachshund—whose long shape parodied the CinemaScope format—the comically vulgar and racy Bachelor Flat shows the early cracks in a Production Code that would collapse by decade’s end. Bachelor Flat will screen on a 35mm vault print provided courtesy of the studio.
